Endless pools are becoming more and more popular for people to use in their own homes. The benefits of using an endless pool are enormous and many people are seeing a significant improvement in their health by using them.
They are unique in as much as they provide a current at one end of the pool, which means that you exert energy by swimming against it and as such, you’ll never make it to the end of the pool! The current can be set, increased or decreased, depending on your preference and fitness level. Plus the fact, that they don’t take up as much space as a classic swimming pool.
Endless pools are based on the fact that water is vital to all life. In fact, the human body is made up of 60% water! The benefits of water based exercise are well documented, and as such, endless pools are a perfect platform for improving fitness levels at home.

- Running chest deep in water on a hydraulic treadmill

It’s been proven that muscle strength builds 4-12 times faster with water based strength building exercises than classic land based exercises. Equally, jogging against a current in water will burn 11 calories per minute as opposed to 6 calories per minute by jogging on land.
They are an efficient and effective way to work out. They are also exceptionally good at helping people recovering from injury or surgery. Very often, people with back injuries can move around pain free in water but find it difficult and painful out of it.
We’ve also heard stories of children that are on the autism spectrum being taught to swim with a boogie board in an endless pool – they’re a safe environment, parents can give 100% attention to their child and they’ve got all the time in the world to help them.
